I found out my host family, school, and city all in one day, and that day was May 24, 2012! I will be staying in the city of Lampang, which is known for its horse drawn carriages, as it is one
of the only cities left in Thailand that still uses them, which sounds absolutely
amazing! Also, it is known for its elephant conservation center, which I am
beyond excited for!! One of my goals while in Thailand is to ride an elephant!!
(Pictures of the elephants and I are coming soon!!! J I just need to get to
Thailand first) Lampang has many waterfalls, hot springs, and mountains, which
will be perfect because I love the outdoors. My host school is called Bunyawat
Witthayalai School, which I understand has 6,000 students! 6,000 students is
MUCH larger than I am used too, so that will be very different for me, but hey,
more students for me to meet right?! J
Now, for my first host family! My host parents are both doctors and I will have
two sisters and four dogs living at home with me! One sister is a year younger
than me, while the other is my age! I have been talking with both of them quite
a bit and I already feel so comfortable knowing that I will be hosted by such a
wonderful family. My younger host sister will be living in Vermont on Rotary Exchange
while I am living in Thailand, but I will still get to meet her for a few days
after I arrive! The sister that is my age just came back from exchange in the
United States and the funny part about it is that she was on exchange in
Wisconsin and was hosted by another Green Bay Rotary club!! This is really cool
because we already know some of the same Rotarians!! Talk about a small world, and with Rotary it
seems to get smaller and smaller! My first Thai house is made of teak wood,
something Lampang is known for! I am soooo excited to meet my family in exactly
six weeks, and these next six weeks will just fly by!
These are just some photos off of the Internet, however, I am sooooo excited for the time when I will be taking these pictures firsthand.
SIX WEEKS UNTIL THAILAND <3
