Dance Performance

Two weeks prior to September 21, I had dance practice every morning before school started, to prepare for a dance performance for all of the retiring teachers. The dance we did was a traditional Thai dance and the music we danced too, was played by members of the school orchestra. This was such a great experience for me and such an amazing opportunity to be apart of. Having participated in this ceremony, I learned that it is very important to the school and its faculty. So on, September 21 the day of the performance, Emily and I were at the school by 5 a.m., to get ready...we didn't perform until 9:00 a.m.! Soon we learned why we needed to be there so early, penciled on eyebrows, glued hair, fake eyelashes, painted on lipstick, makeup, and fake bun on the back of my head we were finally ready to get into our traditional Thai dresses. With that, we were all ready to go so we walked to the performance site and waited outside for a bit and then it was SHOWTIME! We walked up the steps and soon into the room, theteachers were lined up creating a path for us to walk through. The path for us to walk through was much smaller than when we practiced, so that made the dance fun! Oh my lanta, I forgot to mention, so as I woke up at 4:00 a.m. so we could leave for the show, I was putting in my contacts...and...ummm...ended up losing one of them! I did the entire dance show with one contact in and the other eye missing. Let's just say there were a few blind spots! I tell you, always something fun comes up to make it even more interesting! But, I made it to the end of the dance without tripping over anyone or spilling my flowers, so we were good to go! It was a lot of fun to get all dolled up but let me tell you, taking all of that makeup and trying to take off my fake hair was a lot of fun, believe me, do we have pictures! I am so thankful to have been part of such an important event at my school. This event is a HUGE ceremony, I mean all of the teachers were dressed up and they even made their own dances too. They got all dolled up like we did, and I learned a lot about their culture within a few short hours. The ceremony hall was decorated beautifully and all of the teachers wanted to get pictures with Emily and I! So by the time we were done with the day, I got a very good night's sleep. It was a very fun and exhausting day. I never knew I could smile for that long!!! Kidding, kidding, but all in all, yet another amazing experience!
Pictures coming soon!!!
I must get some sleep now, but look back again in four to five days! Thank you!
xoxox Always, <3 Sarah
